EL POZO PRODUCTIONS WINS ACCOLADE COMPETITION
Crompond, NY – April 4, 2008 – El Pozo Productions announced today that its documentary film THE BORINQUENEERS received the Award of Excellence from the 2008 Accolade Competition which recognizes outstanding work in film, television and video.
The Accolade is an international, non-traditional venue. Awards go to those filmmakers who produce fresh, standout entertainment, animation and compelling documentaries. The Accolade recognizes filmmakers, large and small, who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity. The Accolade receives entries from all over the world that are are judged by highly qualified professionals in the film and television industry.
Producer/Director Noemi Figueroa Soulet stated “This is an unexpected treat. I am extremely happy and proud to receive such a wonderful award as the Accolade.”
“The Borinqueneers is a well-crafted, carefully-edited feature documentary highlighting the proud story of the only all-Hispanic unit in US Army history, the Puerto Rican 65th Infantry Regiment. The filmmakers keep viewers engaged in this fascinating story through skilled narration, use of rare archival footage and prudent use of engaging interviews. It’s sure to generate appreciation in viewers unfamiliar with the contributions of the 65th. It’s a standout production that deserves wide distribution on television and cable.” Thomas Baker, Ph.D., Coordinator, Accolade Competition
In The Accolade competition, The Borinqueneers documentary project was one of only nine films to receive an "Award of Excellence" the second highest honors in the Accolade competition. Less than 15 percent of entries receive this honor.
In winning an Accolade, El Pozo Productions joins the ranks of other high-profile winners of this internationally respected award. Information about the Accolade and a list of recent winners can be found at www.accoladecompetition.org.
